Imagine: you are on an island, completely alone. Most of the time the sun shines, but
sometimes the wind blows so hard you almost lose your balance. Or a thick fog appears so
you can no longer see anything. Everything is yours… yet not everything is there. Like shade,
a roof above your head, an answer, another person. Time to start searching.
Without words, two dancers reveal a world about searching beyond yourself and the art of
building bridges, literally and figuratively. Because sometimes another person’s island is
closer than you think…
The very youngest children, together with their caregivers, take place in the ‘sea’ and are free
to move between the islands. Watching naturally becomes experiencing.
Îles Flottantes is a choreography by Bergstra and Somerwil and is partly made possible
through the European research project The Right Time.
